Control4 Home Automation Installation & Wi-Fi Upgrade in East Barnet
This project was undertaken at the East Barnet home of the then-Premier League footballer, Lucas Moura, and his family.
At the time a player for Tottenham Hotspur, Mr Moura was dealing with the inconvenience of having to constantly manually turn off lights around multiple rooms in his 10-bedroom property. He also found that the quality of his Wi-Fi varied throughout the building.
Our team intervened to help the client tackle these issues, effectively transforming his abode into a fully functioning smart house. The aim was to ensure the footballer and his relatives could enjoy their lives in a secure environment.
To accomplish this, we decided to install a Control4 home automation system. Alongside this, we fitted an access-controlled gate, which the client would be able to control from inside his property, via his mobile phone or tablet.
The strategy
The sheer size of this property, as well as its build structure, presented a major challenge. We had a lot of upgrades in mind for the house, and it was crucial to give the occupants the ability to easily monitor what was going on across the various areas of the building.
To address the poor Wi-Fi in the property, we installed 57 data points with CAT6e cabling. We were ultimately able to improve the home’s Wi-Fi coverage to 98%, thereby enabling the client and his loved ones to be connected across all parts of the property.
The Control4 automation system that we fitted in the building was integrated with equipment from Nest, Dahua, Ubiquiti, Marantz, and Epson.
Results
The installation of the 57 data points had a transformative effect on the property, delivering a hugely improved Wi-Fi connection.
Furthermore, with a smarter security system now in place, Mr Moura’s family were able to feel more secure, knowing that unwanted guests could be kept out of the property. The access control system could also be used to carry out simple tasks such as turning lights off. This meant all manner of essential functions in the property became quicker and easier to use.
The family also adored the home cinema we installed in the house. It gave them a place in which they could all relax together and enjoy high standards of entertainment.
The Spurs superstar himself was effusive in his praise for our work. He remarked that he was “really impressed” with how our team had “managed to transform my home in such a short space of time. Not only is it so simple to turn the lights off in my house now, but security has improved (great for peace of mind!) and we even have a cinema room to keep the whole family entertained.”
